Alloy Recommendations
A413 + VADC: Hydraulic gear and vane pumps >100 bar -best pressure tightness, lowest internal porosity.
A360: Water and coolant pumps -corrosion resistance to treated water and coolant additives; 18% higher thermal conductivity than A380 for temperature-sensitive cooling circuit designs.
A380: General oil pumps, air compressors, low-pressure fluid service.
ADC12: Japanese OEM automotive pump programs requiring JIS material certification.
Hydraulic Pump Requirements
Hydraulic pumps at 100-150 bar require die cast housings with:
- Pressure-tight walls (no through-porosity at rated pressure)
- Precision bore alignment for gear/vane clearance (<0.1 mm total)
- Smooth internal flow surfaces to minimize cavitation

Corrosion Resistance for Water Pumps
A360 alloy (0.6% max copper) provides significantly better corrosion resistance than A380 (3.5% copper) in waterborne and coolant applications. For submersible pumps or aggressive fluid service, A360 + anodize or e-coat is standard.
