Container lock base bodies are structural components that form the housing for the complete lock mechanism. They require consistent bore dimensions for cylinder insertion, adequate wall strength to resist forced-entry loads, and a surface finish compatible with corrosion-protective coatings in outdoor and industrial environments.
KastMfg produces container lock base bodies in Zamak 5 zinc alloy, selected for its combination of higher tensile strength (331 MPa), good impact resistance (65 J Charpy unnotched), and suitability for electroplating. Hot-chamber die casting delivers CT4-CT6 tolerances on all functional features as-cast, with cylinder bore and key slot dimensions confirmed against drawing on the CMM at first article.
