KastMfg produces hinge bodies in Zamak 5 zinc alloy using hot-chamber die casting, achieving bore-to-bore alignment within CT4-CT5 tolerance as-cast.
Zamak 5's higher strength and hardness versus Zamak 3 improves the wear resistance of knuckle bearing surfaces under repeated hinge operation. The smooth as-cast surface accepts nickel or chrome plating directly, producing the premium decorative finish expected in architectural hardware at competitive cost.
