# Cooling Plate -Electric Industry
Cooling plates for power electronics and electrical equipment perform two functions simultaneously: structural housing and thermal management. KastMfg produces aluminum cooling plates in ADC12 alloy, which combines good castability for complex fin geometry with thermal conductivity of 96 W/m·K -sufficient for most forced-air cooling applications.
Cooling fin geometry is designed during DFM to optimize both die castability (draft angles, minimum fin thickness 1.5- mm, fin height-to-spacing ratio) and thermal performance. Post-casting powder coating or spraying plastics provides color identification, surface protection, and in some designs a defined emissivity for radiative cooling enhancement. CNC machining of mounting faces and fastener holes is available in-house.
