Die Casting for Medical Equipment -Precision, Traceability, and Compliance
Medical equipment die casting requires dimensional precision, full material traceability, and documentation that supports regulatory compliance -combined with the production consistency that medical device OEMs demand across every batch.
Medical Die Casting Requirements
Material Traceability
Medical equipment OEMs require full material traceability from alloy ingot to finished component. KastMfg provides OES spectrometer chemistry certificates with heat number traceable to ingot lot, material certificates to EN 10204 Type 3.1 where required, and REACH/RoHS substance declarations for all alloys and surface treatments.
Dimensional Precision
Medical device assemblies require tight tolerances on mating features, mounting interfaces, and kinematic joints. Standard process: CT4-CT5 as-cast, with post-casting CNC machining to ±0.02-0.05 mm on critical features. CMM inspection with full GD&T report is standard for medical first articles.
Surface Quality
Medical housings visible to clinical staff require consistent cosmetic quality -no surface sinks, cold shuts, or flow marks on visible faces. KastMfg identifies cosmetic surfaces at DFM review and designs gating to keep gate marks on non-visible faces.
Cleanroom Packaging
For components delivered to cleanroom medical device assembly environments, KastMfg provides clean-packed delivery in sealed bags with particulate protection. Packaging specification is documented in the control plan at program launch.
